Educating Primary and Secondary School Children
The BTA is dedicated to educating children and younger people about hearing and tinnitus awareness and we have produced two educational packs for school children.
Primary School Pack
Safe and Sound

Safe and Sound is the BTA's education pack for Primary school children aged 7 - 11. The pack contains information on:
How the human ear works
How sound waves travel
Loud noise and hearing protection
Tinnitus, lip reading and sign language
Animal hearing
Secondary School Pack
Don't Turn it Off, Turn it Down

Don't Turn it Off, Turn it Down is an educational information pack which is currently being offered free of charge to all secondary schools in the UK. Packed with information on hearing including:
Silence and noise
Hearing problems and the avoidance of damage
Living with hearing impairment
Lip reading and sign language
The nature of sound
Investigating sound levels
The ear and how it can be damaged
Don't Turn it Off, Turn it Down is aimed at educating children between the ages of 11 and 14 years about their hearing and how to protect it. It stresses that loud music at clubs, concerts and through personal stereos can cause damage to hearing mechanisms.
If you would like to receive a copy/copies of these packs, please be aware that they are currently being updated. Please contact us if you would like to receive a copy when available.
Colouring Booklet for Young Children
The BTA has also produced a Colouring Booklet for Young Children, if you would like to receive a copy, please contact us.
